Located in the heart of Heverlee, Kinderrijk is a modern childcare facility designed to provide a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for children aged 0 to 3 years. Commissioned by Kinderrijk vzw and constructed by Building & Partners, the project reflects a commitment to child-centric design, integrating functionality with warmth to support the developmental needs of young children.
Kinderrijk vzw aimed to establish a childcare center that would:
Accommodate 136 children across various age groups
Provide fully accessible facilities for children with special needs
Create a homely atmosphere that fosters growth and learning
Integrate seamlessly into the existing urban fabric of Heverlee
The design focused on creating distinct yet connected spaces for different age groups, ensuring that each area caters to the specific developmental stages of the children. Natural light, open spaces, and the use of warm, durable materials contribute to a welcoming atmosphere.
