At Snelwegstraat 11 in Westerlo, Storebox introduces a new standard in self-storage: a fully automated, unmanned facility offering 24/7 access. Developed by Storebox and constructed by Building & Partners, this project combines cutting-edge technology with sustainable design to provide secure, flexible storage solutions for both individuals and businesses.
Following a successful pilot in Heusden-Zolder, Storebox sought to scale its innovative concept to a new location in Westerlo. The assignment was clear:
Create an unmanned, fully automated self-storage complex
Ensure high security and user-friendly access control
Build flexible units for both private and business clients
Integrate advanced building technology in a clean architectural shell
Deliver a robust and durable structure ready for long-term use
To meet the client’s expectations, a steel-frame industrial building was constructed with prefabricated concrete panels and a sleek anthracite façade. Inside, a wide range of storage units was installed, varying in size and easily accessible via a digital entry system. The entire building is secured with 24/7 surveillance and motion sensors, while users can manage access and bookings entirely online.
No on-site personnel is needed—Storebox 2 runs entirely via remote monitoring and cloud-based control. The interior finish prioritises cleanliness, durability, and modularity, enabling future reconfiguration if needed.
The construction process was fast-tracked and precisely coordinated, with close attention to functional detailing and integration of building technology.
