Situated on the corner of Jordaenskaai and Burchtgracht in Antwerp, Antigoon is a boutique residential development that exemplifies refined urban living. Designed by BINST ARCHITECTS and developed by VL-Holding and Bermaso, the project comprises six spacious apartments—each occupying an entire floor—and a ground-floor commercial space. With panoramic views of the Scheldt River and a facade characterized by polished anthracite architectural concrete, Antigoon seamlessly integrates contemporary design with its historic surroundings
The project aimed to transform the site of the former Hotel Antigone into a high-end residential building that would:
Maximize views of the Scheldt River
Respect the architectural context of the historic city center
Incorporate innovative parking solutions within a limited footprint
Achieve a high standard of finish and sustainability
Given the site’s triangular shape and proximity to heritage structures, the design emphasized clean lines and a rhythmic facade that responds to the urban fabric. The building’s structure was cast on-site to support the weight of the custom-designed facade panels. An autolift system was implemented, allowing residents to park their vehicles on the same floor as their apartments—a first in Belgium. Despite challenges such as archaeological considerations and tight site constraints, the project was completed on schedule through meticulous planning and close collaboration with all stakeholders
